    New strings?

With the SLS ordered, I've been thinking about trying a different kind of strings. I like Elixirs, but they're expensive. To be honest, the EBs on my Jackson were holding up pretty well, and they were a hell of a lot cheaper.

    I'm deciding between these two:

Has anyone tried either of them? The coated ones have "titanium technology" or whatever. The description says "Ernie Ball has taken it a step further by reinforcing the plain strings with a patented winding of titanium wire."

Does that mean the plain strings are actually wound with super thin titanium wire or something? I couldn't find any good pictures.

The Cobalt ones are apparently more flexible, clearer, and resist sweat and moisture. The coated ones are coated though, so they'll also resist sweat and moisture.

Meh idk, I work for autoparts and when it comes to wiper blades, you are supposed to replace them every 6-12 months whether you spend $10 on a pair or $50 on a pair.
I buy bosch ones which usually run about $40 when on sale, because i like good ones.

But when it comes down to it, honestly there is no point when they all wear out in the same time.
But when it comes to a $6-15 pack of strings I guess you have room to play around a little.

I play the skinny top heavy bottoms, and they are fine to me.
I replace them much less frequently, because even in my room with a 55 gallon fish tank that evaporates 2-3 gallons of water a week.
My strings never rust, and I play much less than most of you.

Try something new out and let us know, most of us stick to one string as it is ^^

    Re: New strings?

I play a looooot (especially over the past few weeks). Elixirs really do last longer because of the coating, though the last set of EBs impressed me.

I just did some research, and I guess the Cobalt ones were announced at Namm and haven't even been released yet. There's a lot of hype around them though. If they really are they way they describe them in the promo videos and stuff, they should be really nice.

Both of those sets are $10/pack, but that's still cheaper than Elixirs

I'm also planning on putting the SLS in drop C, otherwise I would put .10-52s on it. The Jackson had .11-54, and they were just a touch rubbery, so I'm thinking a little thicker will put it right where I want it. I think I'll order a pack of both and see how that goes. The SLS will probably show up before the Cobalts are released, so I'll be trying out the coated ones first.

I know, right? There were people in the youtube comments talking about how cobalt is radioactive and it's dangerous to use these strings.

EB posted a comment basically saying they're all retarded and there's nothing dangerous about them.

Well if that was the case I would be dead now. I've been using Cobalt drill bits for a long time now. I think I'm going to change from the EB Regular Slinky to the Cobalt. I just need them to hit the stores so I can order some!!!!!
