Hellraiser C1 or Hellraiser Solo 6?

I'm planning on buying a Schecter Hellraiser, but I haven't decided yet if it is going to be a C1 or Solo 6. From what I saw, they both have the same price and are equipped the same. Any advice on this subject?

    Thanks

It's really just down to personal preference with this one. They're identical guitars except for the shape of the body. My only real advice would be to take a look at the ATX line and new SLS line just to see what else is out there.

Hellraisers are awesome guitars. You won't be disappointed!

Thanks for the advice. I just looked at a Blackjack ATX C1 and a Blackjack SLS C1 and i saw that one of the main differences is that they both have Seymour Duncan pickups instead of EMG in Hellraiser. Do you think that this is an advantage?

That's up to your taste again

I personally like the Blackouts more, but that's me. There are a ton of comparison videos on youtube. Just see if you can find some high quality recordings from each.

The ATX line is basically just a Hellraiser with Blackouts in it (aside from appearance).

The SLS line has some more drastic differences. The body and neck are thinner than a standard Schecter, the neck has a satin finish and is made of maple instead of mahogany, and you can get them with either active (Blackouts) or passive (Full Shred/Jazz) pickups. It looks like the SLSs will cost a little more though.

What kind of music are you looking to play?

Blackouts can definitely get extremely brutal, but cleans aren't super sparkly (just from what I've seen and heard). They have a bit more of a dynamic sound. Some people don't like EMGs because they sound kind of flat and sterile, but that's a matter of opinion. I have an 81/85 set in my Jackson, and I'd like to swap them out, there's nothing really wrong with them.

The nice thing about the Hellraiser is that it has coil-tapped EMGs, so you can get a good single coil sound for extreme cleans (or as extreme as an EMG can get you).

For light-medium distortion, I think both would be able to do the job just fine. If you go to seymourduncan.com they have recordings of most of their pickups. You can check out the Blackouts with various amounts of distortion on them.

I also forgot to mention that the SLS and ATX have ebony fretboards instead of rosewood, if that matters to you.

Im a hellraiser guy. So here is my experience

Go with the blackouts. Even with coiltaps you WILL NOT get a decent clean tone.

Re: Hellraiser C1 or Hellraiser Solo 6?

I've got the Hellraiser Solo-6 and I love it!!!!!!! I think the guys that aren't getting a great clean tone are not tweaking their amp or guitar settings right. I took me a few days fucking with it to find a good clean tone. I coil tap the neck pickup/full on humbucker in the bridge/toggle switch in the middle and I get a great clean tone. I also had to fool around with my Digitech RP1000 for a good clean tone that compliment the guitar. This monster come alive when played with the distortion. The neck on it very comparable to a Les Paul. I know the C-1 neck is thinner. Either one would be a great guitar to own!!!!!!!
