    Pete's Guitar Build

Seems like everyone wants to do this huh?

Well I need a project for the little time that I have.
I know this will not be something that happens quick, because I want to take my time and literally make a high quality custom.

I want to make my own guitar, and I have decided on purple! Probably with gold hardware cause that will look awesome.

This is what I will be going for:

    Specs
    Construction: Set neck, ultra access
    Scale: 25.5"
Body: Maple with flamed maple top
Neck: 3-pc. Maple with maple fingerboard dyed black
    Frets: 24 X-Jumbo
Inlays: To be Decided or left blank
Pickups: Invader/Invader or Sustainiac/Invader or Gold EMGs- To be decided
    Electronics: Vol/Vol/Tone 3-way Switch
    Bridge: Tonepros fixed
    Tuners/Hardware: Probably gold.
    Color: Purple on flamed maple

Checked a wood shop and got enough maple wood to make 2 guitars for $56

    Here is the wood!

dk why its upside down, left will be front, right will be back other piece is the neck.

The Neck, If you going to make it a neck though, and don't want to deal with the frets cuting and installing. you could order it from Carvin and is NT.

    http://www.carvinguitars.com/necks/g...eckthrough.php

As soon as they start salling 8 string necks like that I will probably be making a few 8 strings Beast 8 string, Avenger 8 string, Maybe a V 8 string.... IF they make the necks...

    Re: Pete's Guitar Build

So I paid $45 for a poplar body on ebay which was way over priced, but it was 1 piece all assembled and ready to cut.

Today I went to a wood mill and they had some nice woods, I almost bought a sheet of bubinga, which is like rosewood, but didn't know if it would be suitable for the body.

    It looks something like this

Very nice, but would have been a waste of wood to just put a veneer over it.

Anyways I picked up enough wood to make 2 bodies, and 2 necks for $56.
I chose maple for my first guitar, mainly because they didn't have thick enough mahogany .

But the guy said let him know anything I want and he will find it for me and even plane, cut, glue stuff together.

Anyways I will post pics soon of the wood I will be working with.

Also picked up some tools, purple dye, glue and I am gonna start building the body tonight!!!
