    Necks

i know a whole bunch of you guys here own syn gates custom and special, how would you compare that neck to jackson, esp and ibanez, in terms of thickness , those are nice guitars but for what i've heard the neck its kind of thick and i dont like thick necks, and also too much lacquer makes them sticky, and how do those fr 1000 series deal with tuning changes , tyvm guys.

    Re: Necks

I don't own a Syn, and the last time I touched one was like 4 yer ago lol. But if the neck is the same as say a Hellraiser C-1 then they are just rounder then a ESP or jackson. Ibanez (Beside the fucking Rusty Cooley sigs from dean) are like the thinnest flatest necks from the 4 companys (Schecter, ESP, Ibanez, and Jackson)

If you played a Neck throu before then it shouldnt be to hard to get used to. the Laquer sticking thing will pretty much happen with any painted neck If you were to get the Syn bolt on you could easiler take the neck off and sand the paint down to the bare wood then put it back on the guitar (If it's painted..which I'm not sure if it is or not..)

I have an Ibanez RG320FM, I believe the neck is the Wizard II and it has no lacquer finish and it is SOOOOOOO thin. I LOVE IT!

Heres a Jackson and Gibson neck being compared. It's at 4:10.

    Re: Necks

Lucky for you, I happen to own a Syn Special, an ESP (well, LTD, but whatever), and a Jackson RRXMG

I'd say the Syn neck is just a touch "thicker", but it's really a matter of roundness (like Avenger said). The Jackson/ESP are pretty similar. They're both flatter than the Syn, but the Syn is in no way uncomfortable. It's actually my favorite guitar of the three. It's rock solid, fast, comfortable, and everything I wanted it to be.

Neck thickness was one of my primary concerns when I was looking into buying a Schecter, but it turned out being just fine.

If you want to feel what one is like, I'd recommend picking up almost any Schecter because they all have the same neck shape and dimensions (again, like Avenger said).

I can't really say anything about the quality of the FR 1000 because I'm pretty sure I'm one of the lucky ones who got in on a super early Syn Special for the short period of time they still had OFRs in them (though I still have yet to officially verify it by taking the bridge off).

As for laquer finish making it kinda sticky, it happens on all of them, but it's not that bad, imo. If you're interested in grabbing a Schecter, and you love that sexy avenger body that the Syn sigs have, might I suggest you wait till a little later this year when they release the Blackjack SLS Avenger? It has the Avenger body style, either Blackouts or a Full Shred/Jazz combo, thinner neck and body than the usual Schecter, and a satin finish on the neck for non-sticky yet still sexy looks and speed.

That's what I'm saving my money for :3

    Re: Necks

It seems like a good plan. I don't know what the exact dimensions are, but Schecter described the SLS necks as "much thinner". So we'll see. Either way, I'm effing pumped! I just need to save some money.

And Zzounds is the way I'm going! They got me the prices first, they're super friendly, they responded to my emails in like an hour, and they have Pay as You Play with no interest and without signing up for some stupid credit card or something.

    Re: Necks

To be honest, once you've played ESP and Ibanez (MIJ/LACS), you don't wanna play anything lesser.

Ty mako ,coming from you makes a lot of sense since you own esps ,ibi ,and schecter now, for what i've heard that new sls line seems to have very thin necks ,according to the specs on those sls line can you compare to the of the esp necks, specially the m series, i can't find a spec sheet on those, i really want a schecter with thin neck and sustainiac
