Schecter Hellraiser Special floyd rose upgrade (nut problem)

    Hello everyone,

i bought a Hellraiser Special about 6 months ago. I don't like the floyd rose special which is installed.

The hellraiser special has a nut width of 42mm (according to the schecter website)

The thing is, i want to replace the floyd rose special with a gotoh floyd rose or a schaller floyd.
These floyd rose nuts come in sizes 1 5/8ths which is about: 41mm
and 1 11/16ths which is about: 43mm (and for this size you have the narrow spacing and the wide spacing)
and some more sizes which are definatly to big

it may sound really stupid but it is just quite confusing for me since i have never replaced a floyd rose.

Can someone help me with this?

    Thanks

What exactly do you not like about the FR? Since it's set up for a FR why not just put a FR1000 in it?

I agree. I don't know much about the Floyds you were talking about, but the FR1000 is just like an OFR, but made in Korea so it's cheaper. I have a FR Special in my Jackson, and I can't say I'm too fond of it either... It has a hard time staying in tune, and it just doesn't feel as nice. I don't know what it is, but it feels different than my OFR.

Maybe I'll look into swapping it

    EDIT:
The 1000 Series is OEM only, so you can't buy one separately except for very special circumstances. A real OFR is about $165 online, so that actually isn't too bad. That's about the same as a pickup swap.

Well i don't like the feeling and the tuning stability of the floyd rose special. But anyways, could you guys help me with my problem?

Do i need the R2 (1 5/8ths nut width) or wil a R3 (1 11/16 with narrower string spacing) do also?
Im not sure since my nut width is 42mm

    Thanks

Measure the floyd currently in your guitar, get an OFR with matching dimensions. Problem solved.
