Thread: Pickup Switch Issue

  1. #1

    Pickup Switch Issue

My neck pickup is dead with my pickup switch in my middle position on my C-1 Lady Luck.

    Any ideas?

Also I was looking into upgrading the pups. What do yall recommend for rock/metal othen than EMGs?

    Re: Pickup Switch Issue

Well, you could sell me the the guitar and I'll fix it then I'd rock the hell out of it. Seriously though, there could be some debris on your selector switch. I would use some of that compressed air in a can (Endust or something like that????) and blow (I said blow, lol) the cavity of the guitar out. There could be some corrosion on the switch and you may have to use a wire brush to clean it. You could always replace the switch. Or the person before you may have rewired the guitar and fuckered it all up. Schecter has diagrams on there website for the C-1. Just use that and trace the wires to ensured it's wired right. If you don't want to do any of that I'll give you $250 for it.

As far as the pups I would use the Seymour Duncan JB/59 combo or you could use the Invaders. If you are going to use active pups you could try their Blackouts. Some guys in the forum have talked about Bar Knuckle pups and from what I read they are pretty awesome.

I don't know about the wiring, but what kind of metal? Active or passive?

Common choices are sh-8 invaders, ahb-1 blackouts, full shreds, sh-6 duncan distortion, dimarzio super distortion, dimarzio crunch lab/liquifire, and BKP's, the painkiller and aftermath models in particular. JB/'59 is common too, but not well suited for metal.

Guy before me that had it didn't mess with anything. I'll blow it out and maybe use some contact cleaner.

I don't really don't want to deal with batteries.

It also could be a broken wire and check for corrosion while you are in the cavity. AS far as the pups, check out Bare Knuckle Pickups/Seymour Duncan/DiMarzio websites to do some research.

Yeah they are VERY expensive, but so fucking worth it. If you want to go passive I'd say get either the JB/'59 combo if you are leaning more towards rock, and the SH-8 or SH-6 if you are leaning towards metal.
