    Restringing Your Schecter/ Other Guitar

So seeing as there have been a couple people that come on time to time compounded with the fact im bored. Im going to make a very horrible guide for stringing your guitar (fixed bridge) so you can do it yourself (yay you!) and so you dont have to post a thread asking how to, since most seem to have trouble with locking tuners for some reason.

Also a basic cleaning since you should do this when restringing.

First thing is first you need equipment to restring your guitar with so I've made a list of recommended parts.

    The List!
    1. Your Guitar
    2. Planet Waves Pro-Winder String Winder/Cutter (or wire cutters if you want this makes things so much easier however)
    3. Strings.
    4. Dunlop System 65 Guitar Maintenance Kit (interested in seeing what im talking about? go here http://www.guitarcenter.com/Dunlop-S...10-i1134779.gc)
    5. Planet Waves The Headstand (helps as much as the string winder, just makes it easier on you. heres a link to one
    http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Headstand)
    6. Socket Wrench and Socket. (MAN TOOLS! UGH!)

    Step 1

Well loosen up the strings and take them out of the tuner peg. For those of you who dont know how to do that, you turn the tuner keys. if you dont know what that is here you go, its those metal things on the side.

Whats this you say you have loosened them up and still cant take them out of the tuner peg?? Well did you check to see if you have Schecter Locking Tuners? Check and if you have them you need to loosen them up before you can take the string out. A crude picture of them is below.

    Step 2

Now that you have the strings off it is the prime time to clean the fret board and condition it with the kit you bought in the list above. Because you did buy it right?
Clean the fretboard with the fretboard cleaner and cloth that comes in the kit.
Condition the fretboard with the conditioner that comes in the kit. Wipe off the excess oil.
Then take the time to try to get the dust off gently thats on your guitar so it doesnt scratch up your finish unless you dont care about that, then be my guest. Because after you get the dust off you need to clean the guitar between the pickups where you wont be able to get to as easily as you can now.

*Being put in another post because of picture limit*

    Step 3

You know need to check your tuner keys to see if they are loose? Are they? If so then you need to tighten them but dont over do it.
See the nut that is around the tuner key peg? That is what you tighten.

Use the socket wrench and socket make sure the socket is snug on the nut you dont want to strip it. If its not snug get a smaller socket.

Nice and snug? Then Tighen like stated above. Remember DONT OVER TIGHTEN IT

    Step 4

Now that you have the basics little areas that you need to get clean or tightened you can now start to restring the guitar.

First you need to stick it in the hole........ the string...... the hole in the..... ill just post a picture.

and they come up the other side to say hello to the bridge where you need to allign it with the notch and then on up the neck to the nut corresponding to the string and through the corresponding tuner key.

(Dont forget to tighten up the Schecter Locking Tuners if you have them.)

Now i give my strings just enough slack to wrap around the tuner peg atleast once. some say give it an inch of two, try it and see how it works for you. That is your call.

    Step 5

    Tune my friend!
Grab a tuner and tune it! then get ready for the best part once you tune it you need to detune it by stretching the strings. Be careful not to over stretch it so it doesnt pop you in the face i put a hand on the string to prevent this from happening. But you need to stretch the string so it will settle. Then you need to retune it.

    Step 6

Clean clean clean clean clean clean clean.
Clean that guitar and make it shiny. The cleaner that you used between the pickups is what you will use obviously. So hurry your closer to playing.

    Step 7

    Throw away your strings.
Do it before playing anything because you wanna know what sucks? Getting a g string stuck in your foot. Its not pretty.

    TOSS EM!

    Step 8

    Play. I meant your guitar.

This will be put as a sticky thread and closed/locked if you need help then you can PM me or if you want to tell me how wrong i did this you can PM me too i guess.
